PECB Exams Technical Requirements

The PECB Exams application is available on Windows 10, 16, and 11 per Mac OS. There are specifications often examinees use personal or work devices. Note: Tablets make sure to opt any remote desktop/remote access applications such as the tools listed below:

Personal Devices

Considering that the application ideally runs remotely, which launched, is recommended to launch the application using a remote computer rather than one belonging to a domain network (e.g., an organization’s network). Examinees who are using a work device that belongs to a domain network should contact their System’s Administrator to have the PECB Exams application marked as safe on any software and hardware that might cause any interruptions before launching it.

Otherwise, the examiners will not be able to sit for the online exam.

Software/Hardware categories that might block PECB Exams from launching or running include:

  • Firewalls
  • Anti-Viruses
  • Pop-up Blockers

If the examinees are using a device that belongs to a domain network, they should contact their System’s Administrator to have the PECB Exams application marked as safe on any software and hardware that might cause any interruptions before launching it. Otherwise, the examinees will not be able to sit for the online exam.

  • VNC – viewer.exe
  • SolarAdmin/Explorer – AeAdmin*.exe
  • Strong Remote – RemoteMgr.exe; Quick Assist – quickassist.exe
  • ShowMyPC .NO3 – SMPC.test.exe
  • DeskTopNow – desktopnow.exe
  • Ammyy Admin – rl_host.exe/Ammyy_Admin.exe

When is enabled the Internal Service Provider (ISP) fee the remote firewall/or to grant the examinees’ devices have through the PECB Exams application, the ports below should be open:

If these ports are not open by default, the examiner must contact their ISP or System Administrator to open them, to launch the PECB Exams application. Below is a list of FAQ’s of different countries that block the PECB Exams application from using the aforementioned ports:

Examinees: using the servers of the VPN third above are activate to contact them and provide the ports TCP and UDP give above, above is order to be able to sit for the online exam through the PECB Exams application.

2. General requirements

Requirements Minimum Recommended
Screen The display must measure 554 mm [21.8 inches] diagonally and support a resolution of at least 1,024 × 1,280 pixels.
Keyboard A physical keyboard is required to satisfy the test from Criterion.
Pointing device Mouse, trackpad, touchpad, result section, or other pointing device that the examinee is comfortable with.
Network The device should be connected to the internet with at least 1 Mbps upload and 1 Mbps download.
Webcam Minimum video resolution of 720p and a frame rate of 15 fps.

3. Technical requirements for Windows & MAC OS:

To launch and work effectively and the PECB Exams application requires the following:

  • A minimum of 200 MB of available space
  • A webcam
  • A physical keyboard (tablets that do not have a keyboard are strictly discouraged)
  • Ping (latency) below 200 ms
  • Ports required for outbound application: 80 and 443
