Trainer Level Scheme — FAQs

What is the PECB Trainer Level Scheme?

  1. 1 The Trainer Level Scheme (TLS) was introduced to formally recognize and reward trainers who demonstrate consistent activity, high performance, and strong learner satisfaction. It creates a transparent and merit-based framework that values measurable contribution to the PECB network.
  2. 2 The scheme includes multiple levelsGold, Platinum, and Titanium — each reflecting increasing achievement and performance thresholds.

What are the criteria for each level?

  1. 1 Gold Trainer — Minimum 25 annual training days lectured and a minimum cumulative average rating of 4.0.
  2. 2 Platinum Trainer — Minimum 50 annual training days lectured and a minimum cumulative average rating of 4.5.
  3. 3 Titanium Trainer — Awarded by invitation only. No standard application criteria apply.

Note: Trainers who do not meet the criteria will retain the designation Certified and will continue to appear on the PECB Trainer website.

How often are Trainer Levels evaluated?

  1. 1 Trainer Levels are reviewed annually. Training days are counted from January 1 to December 31 of the evaluation year.
  2. 2 The average rating is based on participant evaluations recorded during the last 3 years.
  3. 3 The process is automatic and based on officially recorded training activity and system evaluation results. No application is required.

How long is a Trainer Level valid?

  1. 1 Each Trainer Level is valid for one year and is subject to reassessment during the next annual evaluation cycle.
  2. 2 Depending on performance in the next evaluation period, a trainer’s level may be upgraded, remain the same, or be downgraded.

How is a “training day” calculated?

  1. 1 Lead courses = 5 training days
  2. 2 Risk Manager courses = 3 training days
  3. 3 Foundation / Transition courses = 2 training days

Can trainers upgrade their level over time?

  1. 1 Yes. Trainers are evaluated annually based on their performance during the defined period. Improved activity and ratings may result in progression to a higher level.
  2. 2 Since levels are evaluated annually, failure to meet the defined criteria during the next evaluation cycle may also result in a lower level designation.

What is the Titanium level?

  1. 1 Titanium is the highest trainer level, awarded by invitation only to recognize exceptional contribution, experience, and consistent high performance within the PECB trainer network.
  2. 2 This level is intended to honor long-standing excellence and does not expire.

How are trainers informed of their level?

  1. 1 Trainers who qualify for a level receive formal communication detailing the level achieved, along with the badge and certificate reflected on their trainer profile on the PECB website.
  2. 2 Trainers who do not meet the level criteria will remain Certified and will continue to appear as such on the PECB website.

Does achieving a level affect my trainer certification validity?

  1. 1 No. Trainer levels are a recognition mechanism only and do not affect your trainer certification validity.
  2. 2 Trainer certification validity depends on meeting the following renewal requirements separately: maintain all certificates for courses you teach; deliver at least one course during the 3-year cycle; maintain an average rating of 3.5 or above during the 3-year cycle; present the PECB brand and services accurately; and sign the Trainer Agreement.

If I deliver many training days but my rating is below the threshold, will I qualify?

  1. 1 No. You must meet both the minimum training days and the required cumulative average rating to obtain a level. Meeting only one criterion does not qualify you.

What do I need to do to improve my level?

  1. 1 Deliver more official PECB training days within the calendar year to increase your training day count toward the next level threshold.
  2. 2 Maintain or improve your participant evaluation ratings to meet or exceed the cumulative average rating required for the target level.

How does TLS encourage performance improvement?

  1. 1 Since both training days and evaluation ratings are required to qualify, trainers are encouraged not only to increase their activity but also to maintain high participant satisfaction.
  2. 2 Performance is measured annually, allowing trainers to reach a higher level based on improved results year over year.
  3. 3 By recognizing active and high-performing trainers, TLS promotes excellence, healthy competition, and continuous professional development within the PECB trainer community.
